Damon Brown - The Choreography of Kindness
Damon did not get his dance career started after an extensive period of study at Julliard. He didn’t complete several tours with Cirque Du Soleil. He simply took his Creative Leap by raising his hand, when the opportunity presented itself. What began as a chance to choreograph a few numbers for his high school choir in Indiana, turned into a 36-year career that has touched the lives of over 70,000 students. That’s because while Damon is an extremely talented choreographer (though you won’t hear him admit to it), he considers himself first and foremost, a passionate storyteller.
When tragedy struck a few years ago, Damon realized that he not only had the opportunity to use his love of storytelling for so much more but a duty to. Today, on top of his choreography work, he is the national outreach ambassador for “Thirst Project” and creator of “Show Choir Kindness.”
Show choir kindness reaches thousands of students and gives them a platform to process difficult topics ranging from racism, sexual harassment and gender inequality, bullying, depression, suicide and how to engage in the classroom. His involvement with Thirst Project has resulted in dozens of schools and competitions including charitable components to their programs, resulting in over $55,000 raised to fight the global water crisis last year alone.
Whether you’re wanting to start a business for the first time, evolve your business, or pursue an entirely new adventure, Damon’s story shows us that is never too late to take the creative leap that may change your life.
